Rule Breaker...

House Beautiful is letting go of some old decor rules that they think can be tossed out. 

See any that you will incorporate? 

Old Rule: Use only one type of wood in a room.

Old Rule: Furniture styles should match.

Old Rule: Vintage pieces are best left as is.

Old Rule: For a small bedroom, use small furniture.

Old Rule: Dining chairs should be part of a matching set.

Old Rule: Children's art is for the fridge or a box in the top of a closet.

I am incorporating that furniture does not have to match, that vintage can be changed, and to mix up dining chairs {and currently searching for a bench}.

Project: Nursery...

The same friend I am helping redo her guest room, is also expecting a little bundle of joy at the first of June. So we are working on both room simultaneously; it has been fun! She and her husband are not finding out what they are having. The nursery above was our first initial inspiration;  neutral background with bold accents. But we are slowly moving toward a softer palette, similar to the images below. The bedding and crib have arrived, so everything continues to move forward. We plan to finish both rooms next month....more to come!
